Current status of fruits and vegetables production and consumption in francophone African countries - potential impact on health

摘要: This paper is a synthetic view of the situation production fruits and vegetables their availability for local consumption in francophone countries Africa, relation with some chronic diseases, such as diabetes obesity. It based on data from Food Agriculture Organization United Nations (FAO) World Health (WHO) information collected through survey made each twenty Africa Indian Ocean. The was preparation workshop "Promotion vegetable health African countries", held Yaounde, Cameroon, 23-26th October, framework FAO-WHO initiative. There great diversity situations related to geographic position, cultural traditions behaviour economic situation. Very few are reaching recommended intake 400g per capita day. These humid-forest including Gabon, Guinea, Rwanda, Burundi, where banana plantains most consumed. On other side, Sahelian like Burkina-Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania even worse an below one third critical level. A first analysis FAO WHO supporting assumption between low high prevalence diseases obesity conditions. (Resume d'auteur)
