摘要: Abstract Background Many patients with isolated medial compartment osteoarthritis are candidates for either unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) or total (TKA). A novel patient decision aid (PDA) was developed to educate on both interventions and prepare them making the their surgeon. The study objective evaluate acceptability usefulness of a PDA informing helping reach surgical preference without increasing decisional conflict. Methods in accordance criteria listed by Ottawa Decision Support Framework prospectively tested UKA TKA patients, who were mailed PDAs complete at home along outcome measures before surgeon consultation. Of 50 consented participate, 45 (26 men, 19 women) used PDA. Quantitative analysis acceptability, conflict, knowledge, preferred option then performed. Results Mean age 64.6 years (range, 50-80 years). Patients rated as acceptable: 84.4% indicated balanced presentation information 77.8% asserted that helped make decisions between TKA. knowledge score 86.6% conflict 19.7 out 100. 45, 33 stated (24 UKA; 9 TKA; 12 unsure).
