摘要: OBJECTIVE. We previously created a clinical dehydration scale. Our objective was to validate the scale with new cohort of patients acute gastroenteritis who were assessed in tertiary emergency department developed country. METHODS. A prospective observational study performed an at large pediatric center Canada. Children 1 month 5 years age symptoms enrolled consecutively during 4-month period. The main outcome measures length stay, proportion children receiving intravenous fluid rehydration, and proportions abnormal serum pH values or bicarbonate levels. RESULTS. total 205 enrolled, mean 22.4 ± 14.9 months; 103 (50%) male. distribution severity categories as follows: no (score 0), n = 117 (57%); some 1–4), 83 (41%); moderate/severe 5–8), (2%). 3 significantly different respect validation hypotheses (length SD: none, 245 181 minutes; some, 397 302 moderate/severe, 501 389 treatment fluids: =17, 15%; 41, 49%; 4, 80%; number vomiting episodes 7 days before visit: 8.4 7.7 episodes; 13 10.7 30.2 14.8 episodes). CONCLUSION. valid for prospectively our department. scoring system valuable predicting longer stay need rehydration gastroenteritis.
