String phase in phase-separating fluids under shear flow.

摘要: Transmission light micrographs show that domains in spinodal decomposition are elongated into extremely long strings steady states of a polymer solution under strong shear flow. The flow stabilizes the string against their intrinsic surface tension instabilities. diameter decreases with increase rate and ultimately becomes order interface thickness, resulting shear-induced homogenization.
