摘要: The present invention provides a high brightness color selective light modulator (CSLM) formed by polarization positioned between two retarder stacks. changes the apparent orientation of one stack relative to other so that, in first switching state stacks cooperate filtering spectrum input light, and second complement each other, yielding neutral transmission spectrum. Two or more CSLM stages can be used series, stage providing independent control primary color. One preferred embodiment eliminates internal polarizers stages, thereby an additive common-path full-color display with only polarizers. Hybrid filters made using CSLMs this invention, combination active passive filters. many applications, particularly areas recording displaying images. They arranged multi pixel array pixelating elements, implemented as filter arrays, patterned retarders rather than modulators.
