摘要: The invention locates address indicia on digitized images of mail pieces by dividing the piece into blocks; identifying rows blocks that are adjacent along a first direction and have similar defined image features comparing such within assembling at least some identified second perpendicular to block candidate regions; selecting scoring various regions basis criteria. criteria initially score based closeness center rectangle then reduce this initial if an edge region is close image, contains small or very high number text rows, aspect ratio between width height high. This provides Address Block Location (ABL) technique which capable being implemented for real time operation presently available general purpose computers.
