摘要: Summary Energy dissipation devices are necessary for base-isolated buildings to control the deformation in isolation system and dissipate earthquake-induced energy. U-shaped steel dampers (also known as U-dampers) energy through plastic of specially designed elements. This type device can be installed at several locations system. U-dampers have been widely used Japan different types isolated structures, such hospitals, plants residential buildings, since 1995 Kobe Earthquake. Previous research has static tests estimate performance U-dampers. However, ultimate capacities hysteretic behaviors full-scale under dynamic excitations still remain unclear. In addition, it is unclear whether initial temperature an effect on behavior capacity this paper, two series loading were conducted evaluate issues described earlier. The major findings study (i) speed little U-dampers; (ii) method sizes established using a Manson–Coffin relation-based equation that based peak-to-peak horizontal shear angle γt, which defined lateral amplitude (peak-to-peak amplitude) divided by height dampers; (iii) rate minimal (iv) bilinear model proposed simulate force-deformation relationships Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
