An investigation of the effects of hierarchical level on "work meanings"

摘要: This study investigated the meaning of working for subjects from three levels an organizational hierarchy. Employees a high technology manufacturing organization were surveyed using abridged version Meaning Working questionnaire (1987). Five central domains ’meaning working’ concept explored this instrument, namely Work Centrality, Role Identification, Valued Outcomes, Societal Norms about and Goals. Results show level shared perceptions by members hierarchal on variables, finding which is at odds with past research, most part indicates clear effects. Such findings are discussed within context internal processes organization. also indicated that in experiment was undertaken, advocate progressive management practices, showed little commitment to company itself. Additionally, instrumental gains achieved through found supersede self expressive gains, majority those sampled, regardless hierarchical level.
