摘要: Diatom-based transfer functions for inferring epilimnetic total phosphorus (TP) have been developed from a data set of 33 southeastern Australian water storages. Regular institutional monitoring these sites has allowed comparison models TP covering different time periods. A model based on mean annual performs better than derived winter maximum TP, spring minimum or nearest the diatom sampling. (WA-PLS 2 component) jack-knifed diatom-inferred versus measured correlation coefficient (r 2 jack) 0.69 and root-mean-square-error prediction (RMSEP) 0.246 log10μg l−1, while alternative RMSEP > 0.27. Deletion two samples with uncharacteristic species composition environmental conditions improved performance (r 2 jack= 0.74; = 0.233 l−1). Comparison other published diatom-TP calibration indicates that this relatively well, possible contributing factors including extensive characterisation (with an average 15 determinations making up mean) dominance planktonic diatoms in most sites. Downcore application will allow reconstruction reservoir nutrient histories since commissioning, thus provide basis understanding management reservoirs.
