摘要: Retinoids reverse premalignant lesions and inhibit the development of second primary cancers in patients with upper aerodigestive tract cancers. It is thought that these effects result from ability retinoids to restore normal cell growth differentiation. Since nuclear retinoid receptors (RARs RXRs) are ultimate mediators actions, alterations their expression could lead cancer development. To determine whether mRNAs related head neck squamous carcinoma (HNSCC), we used digoxigenin-labeled antisense riboprobes RAR-alpha, RAR-beta, RAR-gamma, RXR-alpha, RXR-beta for situ hybridization histological sections specimens 7 volunteers 31 HNSCC patients. All tissue contained carcinomas, 16 also dysplastic lesions, 22 hyperplastic 17 adjacent tissue, 6 all 4 types tissue. expressed 5 receptors. Similar levels RAR-gamma RXR-alpha were detected most normal, hyperplastic, dysplastic, malignant tissues. RAR-alpha mRNA was 94% tissues tissues, 87% dysplasias, 77% HNSCCs. In contrast, RAR-beta about 70% its decreased further 56% 35% The difference level significant (P < 0.05). These results indicate may be associated
