摘要: This study examines the trends in contraceptive use and fertility levels Bangladesh using national-level data from 1975-97. It also considers major factors affecting fertility. Data 1993/94 1996/97 Demographic Health Survey were used for multivariate analysis of determinants was found that between 1975 family planning methods increased 5-fold rising 13.6% to 69.2%. Also prevalence rate by over 6 times during same period 7.7% 49.2%. The sharp increase led an appreciable decline with total dropping 6.3 1971-75 3.3 1994-96. Except 15-19 year age group declined substantially all other groups especially among women aged 35 years older. Results indicate six account reproductive change Bangladesh. These include interspousal communication on desire children womens education employment status access mass media program efforts. policy programmatic implications findings are discussed.
