摘要: Two major types of diabetes have been recognized since the late 1930s. However, in recent times there changes classification and understanding these types, including improved knowledge maturity-onset young, with identification mutations relating to impaired insulin secretion recognition slow-onset type 1 adults now designated as latent autoimmune (LADA). A problem area concerns cases slowly progressive forms 2 diabetes, particularly aged 25-50 years. This is a more contemporary because are presenting at an increasingly younger age. In landmark U.K. Prospective Diabetes Study islet cell antibodies (ICAs) glutamic acid decarboxylase (anti-GAD) were measured diagnosis 3,672 patients. The overall proportion ICAs was 6%, anti-GADs 10%. These subjects clearly had or LADA by both phenotypic genotypic features. presence auto correlated age features consistent (e.g., early diagnosis, lower BMI, reduced beta-cell function). Overall, patients requiring 6 years, 38% anti-GAD+ baseline compared 5.3% those not on Antibodies GAD indicate underlying process high positive predictive value for future dependency adults.
