Outcomes of an integrated cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) treatment program for co-occurring depression and substance misuse in young people

摘要: Abstract Background There are high rates of co-occurring depression among young people with substance use disorders. While there is preliminary evidence for the effectiveness integrated cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) in combination antidepressants alcohol and dependent adolescents adults co-existing depression, no studies have examined CBT interventions absence pharmacotherapy. The aim current study was to determine outcomes an intervention misuse presenting a mental health setting. Methods Sixty (aged 15 25), DSM-IV diagnosis Major Depressive Disorder concurrent (at least weekly past month) or disorder were recruited from public youth service Melbourne, Australia. Participants received 10 sessions individual treatment delivered case management over 20-week period. Results associated significant improvements anxiety, use, coping skills, depressive cognitions functioning at mid- (10 weeks) post- (20 weeks) treatment. These changes maintained 6 months follow-up (44 weeks). Conclusions results provide misuse. Further using randomised controlled designs required its efficacy.
