摘要: The author analyzes the effect of government enforcement on compliance with labor regulations in Argentina, a country where only half workforce receives all benefits to which they are legally entitled. Constructing panel data for period 1995–2002 across provinces and using number inspectors per capita as proxy enforcement, he estimates six employment social security regulations: minimum wage, maximum hours, paid vacation time, annual extra monthly workers compensation insurance, health insurance. Because potential simultaneity between compliance, explores instrumenting by electoral years. Two-stage least squares suggest increases compliance.
