摘要: This paper lists important publications on classification by S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), veritably called the father of Indian library movement. It outlines brief history seven editions his revolutionary colon (CC) from 1928 to 1987. Seven are grouped into three evolutionary versions. states unique features CC as based deep study nature and growth knowledge, explains work designing a system successive but demarcated planes work, namely, idea, verbal, notional planes. Tools for evaluating enshrined in 55 canons, 22 principles, 13 postulates 10 devices.
