摘要: The common appearance of hygroscopic brine ("sweating") on ordinary chondrites (OCs) from Oman during storage under room conditions initiated a study the role water-soluble salts weathering OCs. Analyses leachates OCs and soils, combined with petrography alteration features 11-month record in situ meteorite soil temperatures, are used to evaluate OC weathering. Main soluble ions soils Ca 2+ ,S O4 2 ,H CO3 ,N + , Cl while dominated by Mg (from meteoritic olivine), soil), SO4 troilite iron (meteoritic). "Sweating meteorites" mainly contain . median Na/Cl mass ratio changes 0.65 0.07 meteorites, indicating precipitation Na-rich phase or loss an efflorescent Na-salt. total concentrations bulk ranges 600 9000 l gg 1 (median 2500 ) as compared 187-14140 1148 ). Soil dissolved rain water soaked up meteorites capillary forces. Daily heating (up 66.3 °C) cooling cause pumping effect, resulting strong concentration over time. which complex mixtures oxidation hydrolysis material, depend degree highest at W3. Input contaminants generally dominates mobilized meteorites. Silicate preferentially affects olivine is enhanced sulfide oxidation, producing local acidic evidenced jarosite. Plagioclase negligible. After completion rate chemical slows down continuing Ca-sulfate contamination.
