摘要: Blood samples collected from five volunteers participating in a P. falciparum infectivity trial were examined to determine the efficacy of acridine orange technique. Several lens configurations tested for efficiency diagnosis malaria using this system. There was no significant difference sensitivity detecting positive specimens or number parasites among three configurations: 50x long working distance objective (0.34 mm) with either 10x ocular (total magnification 500x) 12.5x (625x) and 750x configuration shorter (0.24 mm). All significantly better than 1,000x commonly available 100x oil immersion objective. The results achieved still exceeded thick blood film.
