摘要: SUMMARY: Introduction: In HIV-positive patients the diagnosis of CMV infection is essential. The relationship between serology, viral detection and clinical evolution has not been fully established. Objectives: To detect presence in peripheral blood by PCR testing HIV positive pediatric with no symptoms, to relate results serology during a year follow up. Methods: Inclusion criteria: Children under twelve years age, both genders, infection, receiving HAART therapy, written consent signed parents. Anti was performed ELISA, semi-quantification immunophenotyping flow-cytometry. detectable initial load for were submitted qualitative ophtalmologic assessment one later. Statistics: Pearson's Correlation, Student's t. Results: 23 children, 17 6 age; 21 (82.6%): IgG CMV+. Two (8.7%): IgM CMV+ Average: 11920 IDV, two IgM- IgG+, average: 23129 IDV. rest children negative, all lymphocytes CD4+ above 25%. 50% had negative counts There correlation IDV values (r2=0.13). Lymphocytes CD8+32.3+ 6.8% CMV. This statistically lower than average group without loads CMV: 49.1 + 8.8 (Student's t= 3.508; g.l: 17. p<0.003). No child showed evidence specific organ disease (SOD), including retinitis. Conclusion: Regardless IgM, 4 loads. viruses. developed disease, probably due highly efficient antiretroviral treatment. Viral quantification recommended, regardless result. Arch Venez Pueric Pediatr 70 (3): 76 - 80
