摘要: This study investigated the role of quercitol in osmotic adjustment field-grown Eucalyptus astringens Maiden subject to seasonal drought stress over course 1 year. The trees grew a native woodland and farm plantation semi-arid wheatbelt region south Western Australia. Plantation allocated relatively more biomass leaves than trees, but they suffered greater summer, as indicated by lower water potentials, CO 2 assimilation rates stomatal conductances. In contrast, had fewer less stress. under engaged adjustment, did not. Quercitol made significant contribution drought-stressed (25% total solutes), substantially was measured (5% dry matter) (2% matter). We found no evidence that used carbon storage compound while starch reserves were depleted Differences conductance, allocation production clearly indicate E. is both morphologically physiologically 'plastic' response growth environment, only one part complex strategy employed this species tolerate drought.
