摘要: Summary Background and aim: Spinal cord injury (SCI) has been associated with a marked increase in bone loss higher incidence of skeletal fractures, however the pathogenesis clinical management this condition remains unclear. The aim study was to analyze mineral density (BMD) evolution patients complete SCI its relationship parameters metabolism turnover markers. Methods: Patients recent motor (ASIA A)(<6 months) were prospectively included. Bone (calcium, phosphate, PTH 25-OHD), markers (bone formation: procollagen type 1 aminoterminal propeptide -P1NP-, alkaline phosphatase -bone AP-, osteocalcin -OC-; resorption: C-telopeptides I collagen -CTx-) BMD assessed all at baseline 6 months. results compared control group. Results: 23 men A) mean age 38±15 years included 102±33 days onset. 52% had paraplegia. 12 months follow-up. showed significant markers, especially P1NP CTx, controls (P1NP: 191±90 vs 51±19 ng/ml, p<0.001; CTx: 1.37±0.49 0.51±0.23 p<0.001). At months, decreased -34%, p=0.005 -26%, p=0.002) decrease 12% total femur (p=0.002) baseline, osteoporosis development 50% patients. AP, OC) negatively correlated values. Conclusions: show loss, proximal femur, being observed these These findings indicate need implement preventive measures within therapeutic approach
