摘要: Background: Patients with higher socioeconomic status (SES) are shown to have better total knee arthroplasty (TKA) outcomes compared those lower SES. The relationship between SES and factors that influence TKA use is understudied. We examined the association pain, function pain catastrophizing at presentation for TKA. Methods: In patients undergoing an academic center, we obtained preoperative functional (WOMAC Index 0–100, 100 worst), (PCS, ≥16 high), mental health (MHI-5, <68 poor). described individual-level using education as a proxy, area-level validated composite index linking geocoded addresses U.S. Census data. measured associations these indicators catastrophizing, adjusting age, sex BMI. Results: Among 316 patients, mean age was 65.9 (SD 8.7), 59% were female, 88% Caucasian; 17% achieved less than college 62% graduates. median area score 59 (U.S. 51).
