摘要: OBJECTIVES Research on long-term use of mitomycin C (MC) for recurrent esophageal stenoses is limited. We assessed the efficacy and safety local application MC in children. METHODS This was a retrospective study 39 patients (17 girls) with median age 19.5 months (range: 2.4-196.0) at time application. The etiologies stenosis were atresia (n = 25), caustic ingestion (n = 9), congenital (n = 3), other causes (n = 2). Stenosis single 35 (90%) multiple 4 (10%). Before MC, underwent repeated dilations (median: 3 per child [range: 2-26]) over period 7 2.6-49.3). Treatment success defined priori as reduction number same from before to after MC. RESULTS For 26 (67%) patients, considered success: 102 versus 17 dilatations (P < 0.0001). Sixteen (41%) never required additional dilation during follow-up 3.1 years 0.6-8.5]). No complication related observed. Biopsies site performed maximal 16 revealed no dysplasia. Three factors associated MC: stenosis, short type III. CONCLUSIONS largest series reported showing that topical an efficient safe treatment
