Maternal coping, appraisals and adjustment following diagnosis of fetal anomaly.

摘要: Objective So far, associations between appraisals, maternal adjustment and coping following diagnosis of fetal anomaly have not been investigated in women who continue with their pregnancy. Method This study measured after appraisal a 40 mothers had continued pregnancy using cross-sectional questionnaire design. Results Based on retrospective reporting, 35% participants met full diagnostic criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder having received the diagnosis. Women were significantly more depressed (p < 0.001) anxious reported less positive affect (p < 0.05) comparison to time childbirth. There no significant differences emotion-focused problem-focused coping. Stressful life events, women's age, number people providing support explained 57.6% variance anxiety depression Satisfaction social support, 40.6% childbirth. Conclusion Following prenatal remainder pregnancy, particular attention should be paid older mothers, those experiencing additional stressful events are socially isolated, as these may experience greater distress © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
