摘要: Our understanding of early Miocene hominoid postcranial material has been built upon a fossil record that consists, for the most part, unassociated fragments different individuals from sites. Although many skeletal parts have known small to large Proconsul species, major problems arisen due lack knowledge limb proportions and difficulties in assigning postcrania species based on teeth jaws. Because this our viewpoint heavily biased by interpretations associated partial skeleton P. africanus (Napier Davis, 1959). Recently two things happened change situation. The first was recognition more skeleton, KNM-RU 2036, were still blocks matrix National Museums Kenya are likely be site, locality R114, Rusinga Island. This led individual their preparation matrix. Importantly, much hindlimb is now known. second finding part an foot leg can reasonably attributed nyanzae at site R1–3, These new finds allow us do several things: 1. The almost perfectly calculated one individual. 2. The estimate body weight sounder foundation than before. 3. The hypotheses concerning locomotor adaptations forelimb checked against hindlimb. 4. The estimated, size other parts. 5. Comparisons made between species.
