摘要: Introduction: Atrial flutter is a common sustained atrial tachyarrhythmia for which frequency increases with age. Ibutilide novel class III antiarrhythmic agent used the rapid cardioversion of fibrillation or flutter. Aim: The aim our study was to assess use ibutilide in selected population very elderly patients (octogenarians) recent-onset Method: Twenty-nine consecutive (11 male, 18 female; mean age 83 ± 3 years; interquartile range 10) were included study; none them had signs symptoms severe heart failure, angina impaired renal hepatic function. All underwent 10-minute intravenous infusion (0.87mg 10ml). Results: rate successful arrhythmia termination 75.9% within time 31 20 minutes. No clinical variables shown be associated cardioversion, although there tendency towards higher efficacy shorter duration arrhythmia. Two female (6.9%) developed torsade de pointes, requiring direct current under general anaesthesia. Episodes nonsustained ventricular tachycardia occurred two other patients. Conclusion: appears an effective and well tolerated drug conversion octogenarian patients, may represent valid approach acute management this particular set
