摘要: Postoperative mutism is rare. We present a 65-year-old man who had transient after resection of anterior falx meningioma. Mild left hemiparesis and palmomental reflex on the right were only abnormal signs neurological examination. CT scan MRI demonstrated mass at one-third portion just superior to corpus callosum. The enhanced homogenously with administration gadolinium DTPA. patient underwent surgical lesion adjacent cerebri. operation was uneventful. On second postoperative day he became mute. He could follow verbal commands, write read. revealed hypodense area in frontal lobe including part cingulate cortex Histopathological examination mixed Ten days postoperatively, began say simple words, three weeks later talk normally. consider that supplementary motor (SMA) may be responsible for mutism.
