摘要: Diabetes mellitus (type 1 and type 2) the complications associated with this condition are an urgent public health problem, as incidence of diabetes is steadily increasing. Environmental factors, such diet exposure to hyperglycemia, contribute etiology its microvascular macrovascular complications. These vascular main cause morbidity mortality burden mellitus. The DCCT-EDIC UKPDS epidemiological studies correlated poor glycemic control development in patients or 2 findings these suggest that early hyperglycemia predisposes individuals diabetic complications, a phenomenon referred metabolic memory legacy effect. first experimental evidence for was reported >20 years ago underlying molecular mechanisms currently being characterized. Interestingly, transient results long-lasting epigenetic modifications lead changes chromatin structure gene expression, which mediate persistent characteristics.
