摘要: Rate adaptive multimedia streams adjust the encoding rate dynamically (with corresponding changes in media content resolution) response to changing levels of congestion along route. The field optimization based control has yielded sophisticated distributed algorithms for resource allocation among competing elastic streams. In this work we study fundamental tradeoffs a class We focus on three tradeoffs: (i) tradeoff between maximizing client average quality service (QoS) and fairness, (ii) granularity (both temporal spatial) QoS, (iii) received volume minimizing fluctuations rate. illustrate these through extensive ns-2 simulations two distinct topologies - single bottleneck like linear network.
