摘要: We have investigated ballistic response of polyethylene/polyethylene (PE/PE) composites to impact by Uzi bullets. For comparison, limited work was carried out on PE/aramid fiber hybrids and PE fiber/Polycarbonate plate laminates. The plates exhibited an average resistance, V 50, approximately 90 m/s per 1 kg/m2 area density. In term the protection level thickness, resistance 76 mm. Visual microscopic examinations identified indentation delamination as prevailing failure mechanisms. delamination, energy calculated basis a simple model considering fracture surface matrix, shown fully balance dissipated kinetic bullet, while contribution process negligible. This is taken strong circumstantial evidence for significant role this in these composites.
