摘要: Background: Emergency room is the interface between community and health care institution. Psychiatric emergencies are common occurrence in A & E department psychiatric services often sought. Aim: (i) To observe socio demographic profile of patients coming to with psychological problem. (ii).To identify difference presentation during 'in' hours out-of hours. (iii).To factors predicting admission. Method: This was a descriptive study every consecutive patient presented problem period 2 months. The time that were seen by trainee psychiatrists divided into categories :(i).'In' from 8 am 5 pm (ii), after 5pm before 8am. Relevant information obtained daily 'worksheet' medical officer on call emergency registration forms department. data analysed using SPSS program. Results: There no significant sociodemographic came Significant number new cases deliberate self-harm Patients past history admission violent commonly who had been diagnosed have either depression or schizophrenia, while adjustment disorder Greater numbers sent home compared those needed Factors hours. Conclusion: should be carefully evaluated for most likely get admitted. New mainly consisted suicide attempters given adequate attention.
