摘要: Background: Origin of adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) has long been a controversy, and the issue it being neoplasm or hamartoma was subject debate for time. Earlier grouped under mixed group tumors considering varying degrees inductive changes. Recently, WHO classification states that presence hard tissue within AOT not due to induction but rather metaplastically produced mineralization hence reclassified arising from epithelium. This study is an attempt identify if both epithelial (cytokeratin 14 [CK14]) mesenchymal (vimentin) markers are expressed in follicular extrafollicular variants compare expression with dentigerous cyst (DC) as this known arise reduced enamel epithelium which CK14. done possibly relate origin Aims Objectives: To study, analyze correlate CK14 vimentin DC. Materials Methods: Retrospective on paraffin embedded tissues. Sixteen cases 15 DC were retrieved departmental archives subjected immunostaining. Statistical Measures central tendency used results. Results Observations: Ninety percent (FAOT) 100% extra-follicular AOTs (EAOTs) showed positivity all Vimentin positive 44% negative 56% FAOT EAOT taken together. Conclusion: The profile supports its specific nature. possible role dental lamina histogenesis strongly evident by their pattern.
