摘要: A subsurface explorer (SSX) for exploring beneath the terrestrial surface of planetary bodies such as Earth, Mars, or comets. This exploration activity utilizes appropriate sensors and instrument to evaluate composition, structure, mineralogy possibly biology medium, well perhaps ability return samples that medium back surface. The vehicle comprises an elongated skin body having a front end rear end, with nose piece at imparting force composition material body. Force is provided by hammer mechanism side from within vehicle. In preferred embodiment, motor spins intermediate shaft two non-uniform threads along which engages these conical rollers. brake assembly halts rotation shaft, causing roller spin down thread rapidly efficiently convert rotational kinetic energy into translational energy.
