摘要: Tropical forests hold several goods and services used by forest-dependent people as safety nets to traverse difficult periods of resource supply. These same are constantly surrounded emerging markets linking remote communities with major urban centers nationally internationally. How these affect adaptation remains unclear. This paper examines the roles in non-timber forest products that normally serve for communities, implications climate change Congo Basin. Following identification prioritization forest-based development sectors stakeholders, types trades surrounding identified were examined two provinces Democratic Republic a case study order evaluate revenue flows their potential contribution local communities. The distribution market leaves returns much lower than worth commodity, while wholesalers retailers reap most benefits profit from high variability volume earnings commodity across provinces. Markets may increase value observed this study, but contributions appear highly limited following among stakeholders chain. is likely be worse free settings, especially when it diminishes net services. should therefore complement rather substitute tropical countries. Capturing trade crucial will require policy reforms further research addresses complexity benefit sharing.
