The paradox may, part, a failure distinguish between two dimensions an actor's causality: sufficiency necessity. Sufficiency actor is defined the ability bring about or prevent outcome. Necessity inverse other actors. In studies described here, necessity varied, subjects asked rate responsibility. findings from Studies 1 2 support prediction that variations greater effect on than responsibility; Study control. 3 4 further demonstrate occurrence paradox, general conclusion relative for tendency males females, females males, linked previous research.
