Racial disparity in chronic hepatitis B infection in a predominately African American urban clinic population

摘要: African Americans (AA) are 4 times as likely Caucasians to have chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) and yet under represented in the literature especially with respect treatment response. The objective of this study was compare demographics, decisions outcomes AA Non-AA patients seen same GI clinic. Of 92 CHB, 60% were AA. had similar ALT viral load at early visits compared but significantly less fibrosis defined by AST Platelet Ratio Index. Treatment rates lower not statistically different for (38%) vs. (46%) majority (80%) HBeAntigen (HBeAg) negative. responded well treatment, although HBeAg positive a decline HBV DNA than negative patients. primary conclusions that appear dissimilar response anti-viral therapy.
