Most existing energy management strategies and compression techniques assume that sensing operation consumes significantly less than radio transmission reception. This assumption does not hold in number practical applications. consumption these applications may be comparable to, or even greater than, radio. In this work, we support claim by quantitative analysis operational costs popular sensors, radios motes. light importance level costs, especially for power hungry consider compressed distributed as potential approaches to provide efficient networks.
