摘要: Background Ultrahigh-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) has an axial resolution of Methods OCT imaging was performed on fresh surgical specimens from the large and small intestines in pathology laboratory, images were correlated with histology. at 1.3-μm wavelength 4.5-μm × 11-μm transverse 1.1-μm 3.5-μm 6-μm resolution. Three-dimensional also investigated. Results Normal pathologic areas 23 imaged. distinguished epithelial layer mucosa visualized individual villi, glands, crypts. Finer resolutions improved visualization features, e.g., epithelium, but reduced depth field. Architectural distortion glands inflammatory neoplastic processes observed. rendering enabled surface pit pattern mucosal folds as well subsurface crypt microstructure. Conclusions This study evaluates new technology can provide a baseline for interpreting future ultrahigh-resolution endoscopic studies.
