摘要: Background: The “steroid era” in Major League Baseball (MLB) was a time when drug testing for performance enhancing drugs (PED) not routinely performed. Purpose: To determine if there correlation between the steroid era and home runs, batting average, and isolated power (ISO) MLB players. Methods: Home run, ISO data from 1973 to 2012 collected analyzed. data from 1993-2002 compared pre eras 1973-1982, 1983-1992, post era 2003-2012. Results: There no statistically significant increase number of runs (HR) hit by American League (AL), National (NL) or overall MLB. or highest yearly single player HR total during era. were significantly more players who 40 more HR per season each other periods (p<0.002). Throughout all time periods, change average. Conclusion: than the steroid before after this period.
