摘要: Glass particulate reinforced epoxy matrix composites containing 0 to 32 vol% glass were prepared by mechanical mixing followed hot pressing. For this, lead borosilicate of composition 75PbO, 7B2O3, 14SiO2, 3Al2O3, and 1P2O3 (by wt%) was melting the requisite ingredient at 900 °C quenching melt produce frit. Prepared characterized various characterization techniques. Scanning electron microscope showed good dispersion particulates in matrix. However, some porosity found higher content. Vickers hardness increased 4 folds for composite. It correlates well a modified rule mixtures with strengthening efficiency parameter (β) equal 0.25. The coefficient thermal expansion (CTE) decreased 40 % Experimental CTE is slightly lower than that theoretical due adhesion between particulates. moisture absorption measured 95 °C follows Fickian diffusion. parabolic rate constant from 0.20 0.022 cm−2 h−1/2 as content 32 vol%. 2 h boiling water test composite 8 compared pure epoxy.
