摘要: Abstract Alzheimer’s disease is increasingly recognized to be linked the function and status of metal ions, recently, amyloid hypothesis has been strongly intertwined with ion hypothesis; in fact, these two hypotheses fit well together are not mutually contradictory. This review focuses on essential coordination chemistry biochemistry that relate transition ions iron, copper, zinc β-amyloid (Aβ) most likely define peptide's roles neurons. The metal-Aβ interactions have elements both gain toxic function, as usually considered, but also loss natural functions, emphasized this review. Both aspects their relationships discussed implications for future therapeutic strategies outlined.
