摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter briefly describes many of the published studies and elaborates results from a number contemporaneous unpublished methyl bromide toxicity by oral inhalation routes, which were conducted to support pesticide registration other regulatory needs U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as well state international bodies. The primary focus is on bromide-induced neurotoxicity. Methyl broad-spectrum primarily used for soil fumigation, commodity/quarantine treatment, structural fumigation. Fumigation typically occurs where commodities are stored, such in ship holds, grain elevators, warehouses, special fumigation chambers, shipping piers/docks. toxicology has been extensively reviewed. From risk characterization standpoint, clinical observations neurotoxicity considered endpoint concern exposure. Reviewing overall shows that function both concentration duration Since human exposure more likely occur route, majority toxicologic evaluations studies. Ingestion fumigated secondary route People living close proximity fields, greenhouses, or structures protected significant through notice requirements, safety precautions, use buffer zones. Neurotoxicity was effect following exposures acute subchronic rats, series specifically designed dogs, developmental study with direct dams pups.
