Experiences of Oxford House Residents Living with the Hepatitis C Virus.

摘要: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most prevalent chronic blood-borne infection in United States and leading cause of liver disease. HCV transmitted through blood-to-blood contact. New infections remain common among IDUs, prisoners, others likely to be exposed infected blood. The purpose this study was use qualitative methods gain insight into experiences HCV-infected residents, an approach that has proved informative helping individuals manage similar challenging illnesses. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four Oxford House female residents living HCV. semi- structure interview consisted 18 questions which designed focus on three broad areas: contracting being diagnosed HCV, ways affected their lives, House. Overall, participants not surprised at diagnosis, but it did impact mood. Participants had difficulty social functioning, experienced physical psychological symptoms, received a substantial amount support from family residents.
