摘要: The production of edible rainforest fruits is characterized by fluctuating and seasonal patterns that require frugivores to flexibly adjust their ranging behaviour. We investigated whether significant changes in a forager's travel direction can inform us about the importance nutritional energetic aspects different food sources for wild animal's diet. recorded five adult female chimpanzees, Pan troglodytes verus, total 275 full days Tai National Park Cote d’Ivoire designed two models predicted directional at, on way to, fruit-bearing feeding trees. In both models, change was significantly influenced density tree species crude fat content species' fruit. Female chimpanzees were more likely rarer trees, at which they fed contained higher amounts fat. addition, tended be positively nonstructural (‘easy energy’) structural carbohydrates (NDF) did not detect any effect sensory cues or social factors changes, either model. amount fruit available time since start fruiting season second model, suggests updating knowledge availability individual trees over time. Our results indicate nutrient its abundance exerted impact shape chimpanzee paths, opens up new avenue investigation preferences animals through analyses patterns.
