摘要: Inchinkoto (ICKT) is one of the most commonly used herbal medicines as a hepatoprotective agent. Among numerous chemical compounds included in ICKT, geniposide abundant component. Geniposide, after p.o. intake, converted to active metabolite genipin by intestinal bacteria and absorbed portal circulation. The biological properties ICKT have been studied experiments. Administration or exerts choleretic effects through upregulation multidrug resistance-associated protein 2 hepatocytes. also an anti-apoptotic action inhibition transforming growth factor-β1- tumor necrosis factor-α-dependent signaling pathways. excessive inflammatory response induced various hepatic stresses attenuated pre-administration. Moreover, upregulates antioxidant enzymes liver under conditions oxidative stress. These experimental results suggest potential benefit disease particularly surgery, which justify further well-designed controlled clinical study. To date, however, data regarding for surgery are rare. This review article summarized discussed recent evidence relating field basic science.
