摘要: A method for the thermal welding of contiguous sheet metal elements comprising steps directing a defocussed laser beam at joint formed therebetween so as to plasticize areas thereof proximate thereto with substantial portion energy thereof, and simultaneously feeding powdered filler material into about fully encompass area impingement thereupon, being heated plastic state by remaining beam's energy. The thus partially shields sheets from direct full whereby likelihood burn-through and/or excessive heat distortion is greatly reduced. plasticized thereafter attaches builds thereupon homogeneous weld seam characterized excellent fusion high efficiency.
