Using an Example Statement Increases Information but Does Not Increase Accuracy of CBCA, RM, and SCAN

摘要: Verbal credibility assessment methods are frequently used in the criminal justice system to investigate truthfulness of statements. Three these Criteria Based Content Analysis (CBCA), Reality Monitoring (RM), and Scientific (SCAN). The aim this study is twofold. First, we investigated diagnostic accuracy CBCA, RM, especially SCAN. Second, tested whether giving interviewee an example a detailed statement can enhance verbal methods. To test latter, two groups participants were requested write down one true fabricated about negative event. Prior request, group received statement, whereas other no additional information. Results showed that CBCA RM scores differed between statements, SCAN did not. Giving not lead better discrimination truth tellers liars for any but producing significantly longer implications findings discussed.
