摘要: Two associated shrink - swell soils (red and gray coloured) occurring in a catena the Hingoli district of Maharashtra were taken for this study. Detailed study morpho logical, physical chemical properties indicated that both have Vertisol characteristics. The low hydraulic conductivity red Vertisols is due to high Mg2+ Na+ exchange complex. Mineralogical indicate smectite dominant mineral soils. presence kaolin transformation past humid climate. absence indicates parent material bole) was not exposed earlier They been formed from boles observed vicinity area containing amount along with palygorskite mineral. ofpalygorskite shrink-swell its other cannot be considered as an index arid release Mg2* paly gorskite disperses clay clogs pores resulting impeded drainage which adversely affected crop production.
