摘要: We discuss the design, implementation and evaluation of two related visualizations authors' activities in Usenet newsgroups. Current news browsers focus on messages thread structures while disregarding valuable information about authors participants various discussions. Newsgroup Crowds graphically represents population a particular newsgroup. Authors are displayed according to number they contribute each different days appear space, illustrating contrasting interaction patterns within AuthorLines visualizes author's posting activity across all newsgroups over period one year. This visualization reveals temporal initiation reply that can broadly characterize roles play Usenet. report results user study explored value these interfaces for developing high-level awareness conversational spaces. suggest convey social histories populations individuals may support better selection newsgroup content.
