摘要: One of the practical problems in neuroimaging using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is to choose an appropriate source-detector distance maximize sensitivity cerebral blood oxygenation and improve spatial resolution for mapping cortical activation. While NIRS has attracted increasing attention infants, there been no report comparative data regarding infant brain. In present study, 9 quietly sleeping 3-month-old infants were exposed 3-s speech sounds, hemodynamic responses over bilateral temporal cortices assessed by multiple pairs source detector NIR light with varying distances (1, 2, 3 4 cm) intensities (0.6 1.2 mW). The statistical analyses group-averaged frequency signal-to-noise ratios revealed that a 2-cm 0.6-mW provided highest responses. This indicates can be used detect activation regions, brain, scaled smaller head size relatively low intensity compared ones have routinely adult studies.
