摘要: Theoretical models of perception assume that confidence is related to the quality or strength sensory processing. Counter this intuitive view, we showed in present research motor system also contributes judgments perceptual confidence. In two experiments, used transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) manipulate response-specific representations premotor cortex, selectively disrupting postresponse visual discrimination judgments. Specifically, representation associated with unchosen response reduced correct responses, thereby reducing metacognitive capacity without changing performance. Effects TMS on were observed when was applied both before and after occurred, which suggests depends late-stage processes. These results place constraints metacognition by revealing action-specific information cortex
